Hacksaw Ridge 2016

Movie Rating:

Based on the true story of combat medic Desmond Doss, who served as a US Army medic at Okinawa. Doss's father, Tom is still haunted by his World War I experience who beats up his wife and a complete failure as a father. Doss loves his country and wants to serve in World War II. Both Doss and his brother enlisted in the Army to fight in World War II. Desmond refuses to use rifles in training and decides to serve as an unarmed medic on the battlefield.

Director Mel Gibson is back with another spectacular war movie and one of the greatest battle scenes of recent years. This time Mel Gibson tells the story of a medic who saved many wounded soldiers in the brutal battlefield of Okinawa. Doss character is portrayed by Andrew Garfield and as an actor, he improved very much when compared with his previous works. Mel Gibson only concentrated on Doss character and his surroundings and completely neglect Japanese tactics. I can still feel the goosebumps that I had while watching the final hour battle scenes. The opening scene has a glimpse of what is going to happen later which was also impressive. Overall, I really enjoyed it and highly recommended too.
